God promised to meet the Hebrews need for food in the desert, but decided to test their obedience. He said to Moses you will have meat to eat in the evening and in the morning you will have all the bread you want. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God. That evening vast numbers of quail flew in and covered the camp, and the next morning the area around the camp was wet with dew. When the dew evaporated, a flaky substance as fine as frost blanketed the ground. The people gathered it and made honey tasting pancakes. God told Moses that each household should gather as much as it needs. To pick up two quarts for each person in your tent. Then Moses said to them, " Do not keep till morning." Some of them would not listen and kept some of it until morning. But by then it was full of maggots and the smell was terrible. God was trying to show them how dependable He was. Some of our blessings are short lived because God is already preparing you another blessing. You can't receive a fresh blessing when your hanging onto yesterdays blessing, as if God is not capable of blessing today. Yesterdays blessing is over and it is maggot infested let it go God will do it again. He wants His children to believe and trust Him.
